The correction of a displaced uterus is something that Arvigo® Abdominal Therapy is so well known for that it is often referred to as “Mayan uterine massage”. Throughout the course of a woman’s life, her uterus can shift out of its normal anatomical position. It is held centered in the pelvic bowl by a number of uterine ligaments, pelvic floor muscles, and the vaginal wall. These supportive structures of the womb are designed to stretch to accommodate a growing baby and to move freely as your bladder/bowel becomes full. With stressors such as injury to the sacrum or tailbone, pregnancy and birth, pelvic surgeries, high impact exercise, other traumas, or simply the pull of gravity over time, these ligaments and muscles can weaken, causing your uterus to fall down, forward, backward, or to either side.
